Many desserts call for a topping of whipped cream. While I love to eat freshly whipped real cream there is nothing like Cool Whip for a picture perfect topping. I use it all the time for my on camera desserts. Whether you pipe it or dollop it off a spoon it holds up on camera for a super long time. In fact, even piping it onto drinks like cocoa (as long as it is not hot) or shakes won’t break down Cool Whip. I also like the crisp flawless edges it makes when piped. It’s definitely one of my go to products I always have on hand. As a food stylist, I am always looking for what lasts on camera and what photographs well. This product does both.
Pro Tip: Each container can only be used once. So, one fill of the piping bag or two or three dollops by spoonful. That’s it. When the topping is exposed to air the texture gets grainy and won’t look good on camera. It may not look this way to your eye but it will definitely show up poorly on camera. Buy small containers and keep opening new ones. I know it seems wasteful but trust me, you will not like the results of an exposed container. Always have more than you need! I routinely purchase 3x what I think I will need.
